What a GREAT day of Strider Cup racing in Pittsburgh’s SouthSide Works!  None of those mighty two year olds seemed to be bothered by a bit of rain or puddles. Little legs strode over, through and around various obstacles – including some very sharp turns! We all learned that “turn here” to a toddler means they just might turn around and go back. And we also watched several toddlers jump the tire obstacles, rather than ride around them. We even witnessed a few victory dances.  We ended up with just over 150 registered racers! Happy, smiling faces received medals and trophies as champions were crowned in 2 and under, 3, 4, 5 year old, and special needs divisions. What a wonderful day of making new friends, riding, and racing!

Don't forget, everyone who participated is welcome to attend the Strider Cup World Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah July 21st and July 22nd. We know some of you are already making plans. Be sure to book your hotel soon!

A huge thank you to all the racers, their families, and to our Title sponsor MedExpress, for the wonderful support and water. A big thanks also to Thick Bikes for the Free Strider Adventure Zone and to Eat’n Park Restaurants, DICK’S Sporting Goods, QDoba, and Amica Insurance. Finally, we’d like to thank Mayor Bill Peduto for joining us to congratulate the riders of the Special Needs race class.

We had a fantastic and memorable time in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh, and loved hearing the stories you shared about your child’s experience with Strider.  Thank you for the hospitality and LET’S GO PENS!

We've got our photos posted on our Flickr page. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to catch all the latest Strider Happenings!

Strider Bikes Brings Two-Wheeled Toddler Fun to American Flat Track
American Flat Track To Add Children’s Area For Eight Races

Rapid City, SD (March 14, 2017) — Strider Bikes, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, is pleased to announce it is the official sponsor of the Children’s Area for eight of the 2017 American Flat Track races this season. The Strider activation in the Children’s Area will include a Strider Adventure Zone (ride and play area) where children as young as 18 months can learn to balance and ride on the pedal-less bikes.

“It is a key objective to make our events accessible for the entire family,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “The addition of the Strider Adventure Zone will open up many of our races to a new generation of fans, giving them a taste of two-wheel competition in a fun setting.”

The Strider Adventure Zone will be located in the vendor area at Daytona International Speedway – near the main injector – and will open on race day, at 2 p.m.

The first Strider Children’s Area and Strider Racing will kick off March 16 during Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Fla. on a new TT circuit under the bright lights inside Daytona International Speedway. Other race cities include Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Red Mile, KY; Sturgis, SD; Williams Grove, PA; Rolling Hills, NY; and Perris, CA.The Children’s Area will open on Saturday of each race weekend, with the exception of Daytona, where the Strider Adventure Zone will open at 2:00pm, Thursday, March 16th.

The Adventure Zone gives kids 18 months to five years old a chance to test ride a Strider balance bike, play with other kids, and develop balance and coordination in a custom designed area. This safe and friendly environment encourages kids to explore mobility on two wheels and experience the challenge and thrill of riding a Strider on unique terrains and obstacles. Bikes and helmets will be provided. Admission is free for the American Flat Track Races to children under the age of twelve. Admission may be charged for adults at some of the events, and the hours of the festival area are 2:00pm-6:30pm.

Early Packet Pick-Up and Last Chance Registration:

Early packet pickup and last chance registration will be on Friday night prior to the race. We highly recommend attending (but you're not obligated to) so you can pick up your racer's registration bag with their requested jersey, assigned number plate, and other goodies. This will be on Friday May 26th at DICK'S Sporting Goods (301 South Hills Village #201, Pittsburgh, PA 15241) from 5 pm to 7 pm. We will also be conducting a “Tech Inspection” both then and on race day. For more information regarding Tech Inspection please look HERE.

Please bring your racer, bike, and helmet to packet pickup on Friday. If you are unable to do so we can finalize Tech Inspection on race day. Any concerns would need to be addressed before the child is allowed to race so again we would suggest attending packet pickup on Friday if at all possible. Showing up on Friday also gives us the opportunity to address any issues in a calm non-rushed atmosphere and to tell you what to expect on race day. We would also like to inform you about important times as related to your race class, how the "HEATS" (1st Race) and "MAINS" (2nd Race) will work, and how the awards ceremony will flow.

Please bring the electronic or printed tickets that you will be received after you registered to packet pickup as it will help speed up the process. If you will be checking in, picking up the registration bag and doing Tech Inspection on Saturday (race day) we would recommend doing so at least 45 minutes prior to the beginning of your racer's age group.

Strider Bikes Announces 2017 Strider Cup® National Race Series for Toddlers
Tiny Strider® Bike Riders to Compete on Custom-Designed Tracks from Coast to Coast

Rapid City, SD (November 17, 2016) — Strider Bikes, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, is pleased to announce the dates and locations for its 2017 Strider Cup, a national Strider Bike racing series for toddlers and children. These family-friendly races for the tiniest competitors will give small children a chance to put their Strider Balance Bike skills to the test at three stops across the country next spring and summer, as well as the final worldwide event next July, the Strider Cup World Championship event.

The unique Strider Cup race series caters directly to children between 2 and 5 years old who want to show off their riding skills and compete in a friendly atmosphere against other Strider riders. Children of all sizes and skill levels are welcome to participate. Strider No-Pedal Balance Bikes are developed for both learning the ropes of riding and honing advanced skills in racing.

You’ll find Strider Cup races in the following cities in 2017:
• Saturday, May 6: Fort Worth, TX, at Sundance Square
• Saturday, May 27: Pittsburgh, PA, at Southside Works
• Saturday, June 10: Lincoln, NE, at Tower Square

The series-ending Strider Cup World Championship race will be held July 22 at Gallivan Center
in Salt Lake City, UT, where nearly 250 toddlers competed on the custom Strider track in 2016. Organizers are expecting over 400 toddler-aged racers from around the world to compete at this pinnacle event.

There will be races for 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-year olds at each event. Registration fee is $25, and will open in January. Racers will receive a Strider goodie bag valued at more than $50 with their registration.
Pre-registration will be available soon; visit http://www.striderbikes.com/events for further information. Sponsors for the 2017 events include Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, LDS Hospital, FedEx, Amica Insurance, and more.

For the second year in a row, Strider will host races for athletes with special needs at each of the events. These athletes will race the 12” balance bike models, as well as Strider’s new, larger 16” and 20” balance bikes, which the company launched in 2014 specifically for the special needs community.

A typical Strider race scene features excited and proud young parents and grandparents eagerly encouraging their young racers as bright yellow cowbells are rung and the starting gate drops. Toddlers, some still in diapers, lean forward, kick their short legs, and embark upon their 600-foot plus journey over obstacles from dirt mounds to wooden ramps. All racers are treated to a celebratory podium award ceremony immediately following their main race, where they will receive either a trophy or a medal and pose for the crowd of proud parents and spectators.

As one parent put it, “My son loves his Strider Bike and this event has given him a great way to race, go fast, and feel like a big kid without having to navigate pedals.”

Participating in any of these events automatically qualifies the rider for the Strider Cup World Championship. Please visit our website at http://www.striderbikes.com/events for more information.
