Two-Wheeling Toddlers Race for Titles at NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte

Strider Cup Charlotte - 2-Year-Old Class

Rapid City, S.D. (June 16, 2018) — Hundreds of families cheered on children 6 years old and younger as they raced balance bikes “Fred Flint stone-style” in the Strider Cup race June 16 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Over 140 racers from 14 states and Canada showed off their balance and coordination skills by navigating obstacles and riding over ramps set up along the 650-foot plus course. The youngest rider, 17-month old Chase Reynolds, came from nearby Mooresville, North Carolina to showcase his two-wheeling talents.

The event included a free ride and play area with demo bikes and helmets to teach children as young as 3 years old how to pedal a bike. Riders rang the gong alerting all in attendance they learned to pedal riding the Strider 14x Sport, a newly launched model that starts as a balance bike and includes a pedal kit when the child has mastered balancing.

4-year-old Carter Lewis from Kennesaw, GA drove in with his family and 2 brothers after learning of the event from a YouTube video that had sparked his interest. “We love seeing all the kids of different ages coming together with a common interest and just having fun outside. We made a weekend of this and are already planning our return to Charlotte for next year’s race” said Carter’s father.

The Strider Cup, held in venues across the country, is powered by the revolutionary design of Strider Bikes, which enables toddlers and young children to safely enjoy the mobility and independence of two-wheel biking at an earlier age than any prior generation.

It was a tight race in the 2-year-old class with Kenny Parker from Lexington, SC crossing the finish line first. While Luke “Duke” Liberto from Mount Airy, MD walked away with a first-place finish in the 3-year-old class.

Reigning 2018, 4-year-old class winner, Pasha Ali, from Trophy Club, TX  took home 1st place again in Charlotte and moves on to the World Championships in Boulder this July.

And the very first winner of the Charlotte 14x class was an enthusiastic Warren “Dubby” Budgen, that traveled all the way from Newman, GA.

During the lunch hour, Strider presented Special Olympics Young Athletes North Carolina with 10 Strider 14x Sport Bikes, designed for children 3-7 years old.

Event sponsors FedEx, Springfree Trampoline, Spirited Cyclist/Uptown Cycles, Honey Stinger, I Heart Water and The Charlotte Observer provided additional family activities.

The Strider Cup in Charlotte marks the third stop along the way for the 2018 U.S. races. Previous races were held in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 5 and Cleveland, Ohio, on May 26. The summer of two-wheeled fun culminates July 20–21 in Boulder, Colorado, with the Strider Cup World Championship, an international toddler biking celebration attracting families from across the globe for two days of camaraderie, excitement and racing.

Breakthrough Way to Teach Young Kids to Bike this Summer

Children are becoming two-wheeling virtuosos before they’re out of diapers

14x Sport in Balance and Pedal Bike versions

Rapid City, S.D. (May 22, 2018) - Forget tricycles and forget training wheels. Toddlers and kindergarteners can be riding two-wheel bikes this summer, unassisted, alongside their older siblings and parents.

Indeed, the perennial summertime dilemma, “How do I teach my child to ride a bike?” has finally been solved. The innovative solution is a patented 2-in-1 bike that teaches balance first, and only later focuses on pedaling.

“Every child now has the ability to bike before entering first grade,” says inventor Ryan McFarland, CEO and Chief Enthusiast at Strider Bikes. “In the world of kids’ bikes, this marks a turning point.”

McFarland and his Strider Bike team, who’ve been helping little riders learn to bike since 2007, recognized that toddlers are capable of mastering balance well before their leg muscles are ready to meet the demands of pedaling.

With the newly introduced 2-in-1 Strider 14x Sport Balance Bike, Strider now offers a bike that arrives in balance bike mode and includes a separate pedal-kit to attach once a child has gained confidence and coordination balancing on the bike.

Other details of the Strider 14x that make it the ideal learn-to-ride bike for children include increasing the bike’s stability, making the seat and handlebars fully adjustable, making it easier for the child to turn the pedals once attached, and keeping the ratio of the bike’s weight to the child’s weight at a point where children using the bike can effortlessly control it.

“Even if your children have never previously straddled a bike, they will be able to balance and pedal proficiently with independence and confidence long before they return to school in the fall,” McFarland says.

The Strider 14x is designed for kids ages 3 to 7 years old. In addition to the 2-in-1 bike, each 14x Sport includes a “Learn To Ride – Stride Guide” and “Learn To Ride –  Pedal Guide,” providing parents a proven instructional method to ensure riding success for their child.

“Before entering first grade is a critical time in the lives of our children when parents can inspire them to choose healthy, fun and empowering activities,” McFarland says. “Bicycling is a great way to peel children away from their mobile devices and screens and get them engaged in outdoor activities.”

Rapid City, S.D. (Oct. 16, 2017) — Strider Sports Int’l., Inc., the world’s premier balance bike manufacturer is ecstatic about their newest product launch: the Strider 14x Sport Balance Bike. This is a game-changer when it comes to learning to ride. Once the child has mastered using the 14x in balance bike mode, parents can simply attach the Easy-Ride Pedal Kit with one bolt.

“We’ve established that training wheels and tricycles are obsolete,” said Ryan McFarland, CEO and Founder of Strider Sports. “Balance bikes are the best way to train our children how to ride. We’ve brought the entire learn-to-ride process together into one amazing bike. The Strider 14x Sport Balance Bike with the Easy-Ride Pedal Kit is the only bike you will need to help your child ride with instant success. The 14x is proof that a child, no matter their experience level, can ride a bike in no time and achieve this life-changing milestone. Tested by eager 3- to 7-year-old riders, their input helped us refine it into the best bike possible for a child.”

The 14x Grows with a Child

Designed to grow with the child, the 14x is completely adjustable. With a fully adjustable seat and handlebars, it seamlessly transitions from a balance bike to a pedal bike. The easy transition builds confidence, provides instant success, and means a better value for parents.

The 14x Was Designed for a Proper Fit

Specifically designed for a child’s proportions, shorter crank arms make pedaling easier. Strider also designed the 14x to fit better between the rider’s hips.  Its narrow design gives the child an easier and more powerful pedal stroke.

The 14x Is Best Way to Teach Riding

The low center of gravity gives a child complete control. Low enough to teach children how to stride and pedal effectively, the 14x allows them to put their feet on the ground whenever they want. The narrow pedals make striding to gain momentum and pedaling with confidence a breeze.

Available in the continental US now in either Fantastic Green or Awesome Blue from Strider Sports (www.StriderBikes.com) and Amazon, the new 14x Sport Balance Bike also includes a Learn to Ride – Stride Guide and Learn to Ride – Pedal Guide and will help parents coach their children to stride & pedal successfully. It retails for $209.99.
