Strider Progression: Part 2

In our second installment of Strider Progression we will take a look at "Extreme Zane"! This is a great example of the next step for most youngsters as they become more confident on their Strider.

Zane is not quite two, but has clearly been riding his Strider a lot.  In the last video we saw Aiden walking with his butt on the seat.  Zane is moving a little faster while occasionally lifting his feet to glide.

Its important to remember that as they get more comfortable and have more time in the saddle the comfort level and commitment to balance will be natural.

Enjoy...

Progression: Part 1

This week we'll be posting a series of videos showing a progression of Stridering skills.  Since this is the first entry naturally we will start with a video of a child's first time on a Strider PREbike!

Cut to Aiden on his cool orange Strider!  He is 20 months old and has a very stylish flame-laden helmet.  He is very smiley and amazingly already trusting his weight to the seat.

Aiden is a little wobbly, but you can tell that he is quickly understanding his early balance skills.  At the :50 second mark he sees a big kid ride by on his bike and thoughts of future bike riding glory are planted!

Keep watching the progression of riders this week and make sure to check us out on facebook to share your Strider stories, photos and video!

BMX Gabe!

If we comment on a blog in our blog will a wormhole open in the space-time continuum?

Gabe's Mom recently said us a review and a link to her blog that we found really interesting.  Not only are there some great photos, but she shares a story of falling down and getting back up.

Ready to Roll!

"I just wanted to thank you guys for such an amazing bike! My son has had his Strider for over a year now and there still isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't insist it is by his side! He now rides at our local BMX track and loves it!"  ~Deanna (Gabe's Mom)

End of a great day

By the end of the day Gabe was able to conquer his fears...and the hill.  Go Find a bmx track near you....it may just spark a passion for riding that your child will carry through their whole life!

Travis: A Man of Few Words

I know that we tell you guys all the time that we love getting reviews, testimonials, photos and videos from our fans.  Facebook is one great way to keep in touch allowing us to combine all of the before-mentioned things we love in one place.

The testimonials that we get are especially great.  They allow us to know what we're doing right and how we can improve and are usually very informative.  We always like hearing stories about how your children are progressing.

Ryan, our Strider founder and chief enthusiast, just ran across an old testimonial that we thought should be hightlighted.  I'll let it speak for itself:

"You Strider guys are awesome!" - Travis

Keep it coming!

Run Over My Foot

Here is an excellent follow up to the yesterday's blog entry.  We love hearing stories like this...Keep posting!

"I was researching a bike to buy for my 3-year old girl for Christmas. She had her heart set on a pink Disney Princesses bike. What I read about the quality of that bike turned me off as I could see her breaking down and crying when it fell apart in a matter of days. I was looking around for an alternative and saw that the Strider bike was a big seller and decided to look further. I became convinced that the bike would be sturdier and that the innovative concept was worth a shot - we could always buy the Disney bike as a back up.

Christmas day arrived and she opened up the box and was all excited to see her new, pink bike. However, I explained to her that her bike was different in that it didn't have pedals nor training wheels (where we live, no one has these bikes yet). She was a real trooper about it. She let me put on her helmet and she did her best to walk around with the bike, explaining to onlookers that it had no pedals.

A few days of this and I started to worry that she would give up. So I invented a little game - run over daddy's foot. I would walk in front of her and she would have to move quickly enough to run over my foot with the front tire. This helped a little. So then I turned to YouTube and showed her videos of other kids riding the bike.

A few days later, a bunch of kids in our apartment complex were playing, many of them with bikes with training wheels. My little girl participated a litte more, walking around with her bike. Suddenly, she said: "look, dad!", took a few steps and then lifted both feet off the ground and coasted. I was in shock! She repeated this about a dozen times but then got tired of it. So, I was happy with the progress but still unsure if this would work out.

The next day, we went to our parking lot and she simply took off. She did not stop running and coasting for a whole hour. The only time she took a rest was to stop and spontaneously shout that she loves her bike! Since then, she rides the thing almost every day and totally loves it.

Believe in this bike, it's awesome!"      ~Mark B.

International Strider Shout Out!

Last week we put a call out on our Facebook page to get photos and videos posted on our wall.  The international Strider M.O.B. heard us loud and clear!  We want to highlight a few of that crowd today.

[caption id="attachment_1119" align="aligncenter" width="453" caption="The first is Emily from the United Kingdom. She got her Strider last Summer and started gettingher sense of balance, but mostly walked with her bum (I think that's what they call it in the U.K.) off the seat. This summer she will be outfitted with her new helmet and there'll be no stopping her!"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_1120" align="aligncenter" width="504" caption="Our next international Strider rider is the ever-cool, Johnny Rock. He hails from Sydney, Australia, sports an awesome Nutcase helmet, and some really cool low-top Chuck Taylors!"][/caption]

Keep the photos and videos coming!  We love seeing local, nation, and international Strider riders.

Violet on Christmas Day!

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing kids take their first steps on their new Strider!  We know that a lot of kids got a Strider for Christmas and we'd love to see and hear your stories.

Click through to our facebook page and share a photo or video on our wall...even if they've been riding for a while.  We also have a new review tab and we would love to hear from you on there as well.

Below is a great video we found of Violet (Almost 2)  on YouTube and her first attempts at what appears will be a very successful future of Strider Riding.

Warning: Great review followed by a video with some nasty trike/training wheel crashes.

"We bought two Striders for our 2.5 year old twins who had been really struggling with trying to peddle a tricycle. Within a couple of days they were zipping down the slight incline on our gravel driveway, and really balancing with no adult training required.

We saw them crash many times trying to negotiate riding a tricycle, but they really learned to balance quite easily on the Strider bike. It is well and thoughtfully engineered, strong, but light in weight for small kids.
5 out of 5 stars!  Highly recommended!!!!" -- (Jay in Ohio)

A Day In The Life...

...of a Strider racer!

Found some cool photos of Nick this week, he is a Strider racer/rider from Washington State.  This past summer he rode in the kids race at 'Bavarian Bike and Brew' in Leavenworth, Washington.  His Dad had this to say about the start to his illustrious racing career, "He loved it! He even did 3 extra laps past the cheering crowd in the Beer garden. Gotta love fans!"

[caption id="attachment_965" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="He started off the day with a nutritious breakfast with cow and Bert."][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_966" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="A little late morning Pre-ride with Mom."][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_967" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Quick nap before the big race!"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_968" align="aligncenter" width="199" caption="Staring down opponents as he gets ready to start."][/caption]

It seems like more and more racing venues are adding fun events for the Strider crowd.  Make sure to find one in your local area, they are a great way for your kids to have fun and connect with riding buddies for the rest of the year.  Our home base of the Black Hills has Winter and Summer fun, both with festive atmosphere!

Big Brother, Little Brother!

We found a great video on Youtube that we just had to share!  We love that Tabor and Simeon  ride together even though they are clearly at different riding levels and ages.  At Strider we strive to not only develop balance skills at a young age, but to encourage fun with the entire family as well.  Get out, have fun, be safe and have a continued happy holiday season!
