Set up for the 2015 Lakewood Ranch Strider Championship Race (sponsored by Cycletrader.com) started in the early pre-dawn hours Saturday, April 25th! Bright orange cones and freshly built ramps were dropped in place in preparation for the start of the two year old race class. 2 and 3 year old STRIDER riders outfitted with full riding gear, GoPro cameras, and customized STRIDER Bikes started rolling in about half hour before race time. Good thing they arrived early and fresh. The weather was not kind to the little ones.
By mid morning and the start of the largest race class – the 3 year olds – the temperature was already over 82 degrees and the humidity just as high. That didn’t phase the young STRIDER riders – mostly boys, who made several practice laps around the 900’ course complete with ramps, tire obstacles and tight corners. Nor did it stop the group of over 25 riders with special needs – some who travelled from over an hour away to race against one another.
It was a beautiful day filled with colorful STRIDER Bike riding, huge smiles, lots of cheers, sweaty heads, personal pride, big shiny trophies, a few minor crashes and likely finished with a solid night’s sleep!
Results are listed below. Unfortunately some of the paperwork was lost so if you don't see your little 2 year old please give us a call so we can update the results. Share your great photos from Lakewood Ranch with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! Check out all of the great photos we have over on our Flickr Account HERE!

Tiny Strider Riders To Compete On Specially-Designed Tracks Across America
Rapid City, SD (March 3, 2014) — Strider Sports International, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, has created a new national racing series known as the STRIDER Championship Series. This groundbreaking program will give small children a chance to put their Strider Balance Bike skills to the test at four stops across the country this summer, plus the final worldwide event this fall.
The unique Strider Championship Series will cater directly to children between two and five years old who want to experience the thrill of racing. Children of all sizes and skill levels are welcome to participate. STRIDER No-Pedal Balance Bikes are developed for both learning the ropes of riding and honing advanced skills in racing.
Find STRIDER Championship Series races in the following cities this summer:
· Saturday, June 21: Rapid City, SD, at Main Street Square - Register HERE
· Saturday, July 12: St. Cloud, MN, at Lake George, Presented by Scheels - Register HERE
· Sunday, August 24: Denver, CO, as part of the festivities surrounding the final stage of the USA Pro Challenge professional cycling race - Register HERE
There will be heats for 2 and under, 3, 4, and 5-year-olds at each of the races. Registration fees are $25 online or $35 on site. Racers will receive a Strider goodie bag valued at more than $50 with their registration. Pre-registration is open now and can be found at www.StriderBikes.com.
A typical Strider race scene has young parents and grandparents holding their breath as the bright yellow cowbells are rung and the starting gate drops. Toddlers, some still in diapers, lean forward, grasp their mini grips, kick their short legs, and embark upon their 400-foot plus journey over obstacles from dirt mounds to wooden ramps. All young racers are treated to an Olympic-style podium award ceremony immediately following their race, where trophies taller than some of the riders are given to top finishers. All participants receive medals and pose for the crowd of proud parents and spectators.
Participating in any of these events will automatically qualify the rider for the Strider World Championship. The series-ending race will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota — world headquarters for Strider Sports International, Inc. The big event goes down this year on September 19, 20 and 21. Please visit our website at STRIDER World Championship for more information.

Ashton was the 2012 UK STRIDER Champion and joined us for the STRIDER World Championship in Sarasota, FL. He even patented his now signature move, "The Fire Hydrant" (pictured below), during the STRIDER trick competition!
The video below is a great example of STRIDER progression and balance. Did I mention that the video is shot in Sherwood Forest? If you didn't think it could get any cooler than that, watch Ashton's balance skills. This is one of the main reasons that we tell parents to hold on to their STRIDER bikes even after their children have started pedalling.
He goes through the enitre rhythm section standing on the Launchpad footrests. He also is able to balance and keep going through some slow going on top of the tabletop jumps.
Have a great Saturday...Now get outside and enjoy the day!
We love to see all the new and returning STRIDER riders at the USA BMX National events! The season is nearly wrapped up, but if you're in Tulsa the final weekend in November make sure to check out the Grands at the QuikTrip Center. You can also look for events in your area on the STRIDER Calendar or find a local STRIDER friendly riding area.

The STRIDER racing action was hot in downtown Denver (so were the soaring temperatures) at the final day of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The location was fantastic, the STRIDER racers were excited, and the spectators were loud!
Thanks to everyone for coming out and making 2013 another successful and fun year. A HUGE thanks to the Axel Project for running the STRIDER Adventure Zone at all the finish festivals along the 2013 route. Special thanks to Spindaroos for giving the 1st place winners from each age division a very cool Race Leader Jersey!
