1970's BMX Roots!

Written by
This weekend is the Sooner Nationals in Guthrie, Oklahoma! It is the second stop in the Strider World Cup racing season as we storm the newly formed USA BMX. We are super excited about helping the next generation of BMX racers and bicycle enthusiasts to get on two wheels earler than ever before. To get all you parents and kids stoked for the Strider World Cup here is a great video talking about Bicycle Motocross' roots. Pretty neat to see how the sport has evolved since the 1970's. Enjoy this flashback to Soledad Sands and have a great weekend no…

New Years Resolutions

Written by
The Earth has completed yet another trip around the sun...that means time to make at least one resolution. I'm taking inspiration from this cool footage from the Library of Congress Video Archive where the employees of Parke Davis can be seen leaving their jobs in 1899 by walking or riding a bike. Before you say anything we know that Automobiles were invented less than 15 years before this footage was shot, that they were unattainable luxuries for the average factory worker, that they have improved the lives and mobility of most of the world since and lets face it...they can…

Happy STRIDERday: One More Reason Bikes Are Cool!

Written by
This would be a super fun project to do with your STRIDER riders on a cold Winter day. I love this video because, similar to a card in the spokes, it shows how something simple can make a bike unique and put a smile on anyone's face. My daughter would be really impressed with a galloping horse...what would your STRIDER rider want to put on their wheel? Enjoy the video and enjoy your STRIDERday! Happy Striderday: Oregon Edition

Written by
Here is a video manifesto for this Striderday post from Bicycle Transportation Alliance in Oregon. Striderville isn't quite up to par with Portland yet, but we do have an amazing bike path, more than amazing mountain bike trails and some progressive city council members working hard to get more bike lines. Hopefully, one day cities all over the world will be more bike friendly! Strider Staff Ride

Written by
One fringe benefit (among many) of working at Strider is that the other employees, including the boss, love to get out and have fun on two wheels. Last Friday we went out for a mountain bike ride on one of Ryan's favorite trails from back in the day. The last time he rode it was before a forest fire came through in 2000. Before heading out he said the trees were, "so thick it's like riding in a tunnel!" This is no longer true! The mantra of the day, as we rode the narrow single track with a steep slope…

Strider Sports At Outdoor Retailer

Written by
Todd and I recently loaded up the Strider Van, threw on the bike rack and headed out of South Dakota, through the great state of Wyoming and over the border into Utah! The Summer Outodoor Retailer Show was our destination. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Strider Van at Independence rock a.k.a. middle of nowhere Wyoming."][/caption] What a great combination; the outdoorsy crowd (20-40 year olds with kids) and Strider (helping 20-40 year olds get back out in the outdoors with a mobile toddler)! We had a lot of people stop by the booth to thank us, sharing stories about what Strider…
