Let me tell you about a real life super woman. Her name is Chenoa. Wife, Mother of 4, devoted Strider Product Development Specialist, and a PHENOMINAL cook. I'm talking, the real deal. When Chenoa brings chili to work she has spent two days preparing all of the ingredients, roasting the peppers, preparing the steak (not frozen hamburger, steak.) soaking the beans and making them fresh. (Turns out they aren’t just for counting)putting who knows what other magic into it to make it the chili that came straight down from heaven into my little white paper bowl and straight to my happy tummy.
Yesterday I tasted her homemade ginger-ale. Yeah, that's a real thing. She does that. A few weeks ago at lunch she asked me if I wanted to try a falafel. A fa-what!? All I heard was "awful" but I tried it anyway. I bet you had no idea that falafels are AMAZING. They are. Well, at least when then come from Chenoa’s kitchen they are. And cooking is just one of her many super powers, she makes time for her kids dance classes and soccer games, and not to mention is making Strider Bikes better every day with her innovative ideas, hard work and dedication. Keep up the hard work! (And please bring in more chili....)
Side Note: I may or may not have altered her computer monitor in this picture for my own devious reasons.
This week we'll be posting a series of videos showing a progression of Stridering skills. Since this is the first entry naturally we will start with a video of a child's first time on a Strider PREbike!
Cut to Aiden on his cool orange Strider! He is 20 months old and has a very stylish flame-laden helmet. He is very smiley and amazingly already trusting his weight to the seat.
Aiden is a little wobbly, but you can tell that he is quickly understanding his early balance skills. At the :50 second mark he sees a big kid ride by on his bike and thoughts of future bike riding glory are planted!
Keep watching the progression of riders this week and make sure to check us out on facebook to share your Strider stories, photos and video!
Ran across this video today on Youtube and thought it was pretty cool! This Dad is very enthusiastic and Joey (19 months) is very committed...especially for his first time on a Strider. (You have to love their high five/fist bump combo too.)
It's important to remember that every child has varying levels of comfort on their Strider. Some, like Joey, will feel comfortable with an incline and lifting their feet right away. Most, like my daughter, will spend the first few months walking with their butt off the seat.
No matter what speed they take to the Strider make sure to keep it available and make it fun and low stress. Before you know it they'll be out-Stridering everyone on the block!
There is nothing more satisfying than seeing kids take their first steps on their new Strider! We know that a lot of kids got a Strider for Christmas and we'd love to see and hear your stories.
Below is a great video we found of Violet (Almost 2) on YouTube and her first attempts at what appears will be a very successful future of Strider Riding.
Warning: Great review followed by a video with some nasty trike/training wheel crashes.
"We bought two Striders for our 2.5 year old twins who had been really struggling with trying to peddle a tricycle. Within a couple of days they were zipping down the slight incline on our gravel driveway, and really balancing with no adult training required.
We saw them crash many times trying to negotiate riding a tricycle, but they really learned to balance quite easily on the Strider bike. It is well and thoughtfully engineered, strong, but light in weight for small kids.
5 out of 5 stars! Highly recommended!!!!" -- (Jay in Ohio)
...of a Strider racer!
Found some cool photos of Nick this week, he is a Strider racer/rider from Washington State. This past summer he rode in the kids race at 'Bavarian Bike and Brew' in Leavenworth, Washington. His Dad had this to say about the start to his illustrious racing career, "He loved it! He even did 3 extra laps past the cheering crowd in the Beer garden. Gotta love fans!"
It seems like more and more racing venues are adding fun events for the Strider crowd. Make sure to find one in your local area, they are a great way for your kids to have fun and connect with riding buddies for the rest of the year. Our home base of the Black Hills has Winter and Summer fun, both with festive atmosphere!
We found a great video on Youtube that we just had to share! We love that Tabor and Simeon ride together even though they are clearly at different riding levels and ages. At Strider we strive to not only develop balance skills at a young age, but to encourage fun with the entire family as well. Get out, have fun, be safe and have a continued happy holiday season!
That's what the graphic on this great video introducing Striders to North Carolinians says. While 63 degrees sounds good (as we sit inside on another chilly night in South Dakota) the story sounds even better! The only thing we can find to disagree with is the bike mechanic saying that Striders are "probably better than training wheels." As most of you know already...Striders Rule, Training Wheels Drool! (Click on the screen shot below to jump to news story)
Are you looking for something extra to do on the side? No Strider dealer in your area and you want to introduce your neighbors and friends to the fun their kids can have on a Strider? Look into the Strider Home Based Dealer Program and you will be able to do both of these things and more.
Here is a short note and some photos from one of our newest home based dealers in Canada, eh!
"I am a new dealer in Vancouver, BC Canada and just wanted to email you and tell you how much we love the bike, firstly as parents and secondly as a small business (that rarely feels like work!) I just started two months ago and sold my 30th bike today! I wanted to pass on a little video if you have a chance to watch it of my 8 1/2 month old son trying out his future bike! He always has the biggest grin when he sees it or gets to 'ride' it!" ~Lindsay M.
Oldest son James rode the entire 2.5 km loop!
