This is the story of a very well loved Strider and its three proud owners!
From left to right: Rhett (youngest), Trey (oldest), and Carter (middle)
all started riding on the same first generation green Strider ST-1!
It all started in the Spring of 2010 when Trey was 3 years old his Mom found a little bike without pedals. She says, "I was skeptical that it would be a 'beginner' bike and as soon as the kids learned to balance they would be on to a pedal bike, and the Strider would be obsolete for them. This wasn't the case at all. They all (yes, even my 10 year old) still love the Strider Bike!"
Trey - 2010
"My kids were 3, 2, and 18 months when they started riding the Strider, and they loved being able to keep up with older kids on pedal bikes." Two of the boys (Trey and Carter), "never rode a bike with training wheels. They wouldn't even get on a pedal bike until we took the training wheels off! If I had known how well they were made, and how many years we would get out of our Strider, I wouldn't have waited so long to buy one!"
Carter - 2015
After seven years, one Strider has taught two boys, and another "ten counting daycare kids, cousins, and friends! I was so hesitant because I felt like it was a beginner bike, and they would need to upgrade right away, and that's just not cost effective. Boy was I wrong!"
Rhett - 2016
"Our youngest just turned two and I'm sure that as soon as he can reach the pedals on his big brothers' bikes, he will be off!" Until then he'll be riding his recently upgraded Strider 12" Sport that showed up at his door (above)! Can't wait to hear about his future success, and to check back in with this Strider 7 years from now!

We hear it all the time, "Our neighbor's son has training wheels and he can't keep up with our STRIDER Riders." or "Little Susie was riding in a 4th of July parade on her STRIDER and was doing laps around all the other kids on training wheels and tricycles."
This is where YOU come in! Send in a 1-3 minute video featuring a STRIDER Vs. Training Wheels and/or Tricycles. We want to see the versatility and maneuverability of your STRIDER: Faster Acceleration, Easier Turns, and rideability on diverse terrain.
Lets see how creative you can be. We will be giving away a $200 product voucher and a cool STRIDER jersey for the winning video submission.

This last weekend in the lovely (usually sunny) Black Hills of South Dakota, the TinTon Trail Time Trial Stupor D took place! A brave few Strider riders were in attendance to cheer on their Moms and Dads rip down the 6.35 mile downhill course.
They also had some racing fun of their own on the off-road Strider track. Bumpy single track and maneuvering between boulders made this course much to tricky for tricycles and training wheels alike! We always have a fun time seeing the next generation of Mountain Bike racers cheer on their parents astride their Striders!

Q: What is cuter than a child on a Strider? A: Twins riding their Striders!
We found this great review from a Mother of twins. Have you had similar experiences to Dolly?
"I bought two strider balance bikes for my boy/girl twins for their birthday. They loved them and it was great that they were able to hop right on and use them right away. It was nice that there was no frustration on getting them to work like they have had in the past with their tricycle. We had their birthday party at a park and the twins were able to ride their bikes all over the playground and park. They have progressed just like the toddlers in the online videos and within a week were balancing. I got the pink and green bikes and both are adorable. I decided to go with the Strider balance bike because it has one of the lowest seat settings." ~Dolly

"Everyone Was Super Stoked!"
This was the official word from the Ride The Rockies crew who hosted a Strider Cup event in Crested Butte, CO. It gave the kids an opportunity to have some two wheeled fun of their own on registration day. 40 Strider riders from 2-5 years old showed up for the main event. The weather was great, the street was blocked off and smiles were plentiful.
The course consisted of some tight turns and obstacles that no tricycle stood a chance of getting over! Thanks to all who put this event together and for all the parents who brought out their Strider riders to have some racing fun!
If your child(ren) have caught the racing bug and you'll be around Gunnison, CO on June 25th there will be another Strider Cup race at the Gunnison River Festival starting at 11am (6/25).

Strider Cup is the brain child of our Japanese distributors and Striders have really taken off in Japan as a result. Every day we get videos and YouTube links sent with huge crowds of children riding their Striders. When we stumbled on the YouTube video below we couldn't help but smile at the change of pace.
The two year old is taking a leisurely Stride through the city streets. The music is infectious, He's got a great smile and after only two months on his green Strider he is getting more adventurous!
This last weekend there were 3 Strider Cup races in the U.S.A. We're working feverishly to get up photos, race results and interact with parents about their experiences. If you have any photos, video or stories to share check us out on our Strider Facebook or StriderCup Facebook wall! In the meantime here is an inspirational video from YouTube. This little guy is going to make a great head coach some day!
If he would have learned on a Strider the cuteness factor of this speech would have been multiplicatively greater!

Strider Sports International has been talking about the useless nature and dangers of the tricycle since opening our doors in 2007. Many parents find out about Strider after becoming frustrated with Trikes and Training Wheels...which is the same journey that led Ryan down the road to inventing the Strider PREbike.
We love this video that we found on YouTube for a couple reasons. Watch as Grace does circles around her older brother riding a tricycle. He is unable to pedal easily, Unable to turn around without standing up and doesn't look like he's having nearly as much fun as Grace! If you took the horn off the trike we doubt he'd be having fun at all. (There is also a training wheel bike sitting there unused)
In just over two weeks the Strider Cup and Strider Adult Downhill will be rolling into Striderville (Rapid City, SD)! We'll have a booth at the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival and it is guaranteed to be a great time for riders from 18 months to 99 years old.
If you already own a Strider for you little ones then come on down and ride with some other Strider riders (This is especially great if they are just learning). If you don't have a Strider yet then come on down and try one out! We'll have demo bikes to ride for free and also bikes for sale.
We love getting Strider success stories from parents. We really love Strider success stories from parents who have been able to use their Striders as therapy. Below is a testimonial we got from Kelly this week.
I have a 4 ½ year-old son. He started on the Strider at 24 months. He took to it immediately. He can now ride a bike without training wheels. This is a typical story for a Strider rider. However, my son is not a typical child. He has Sensory Integration Dysfunction. His weaknesses are specifically in gross motor skills and gross motor planning. His physical and occupational therapists said that most kids at his level are not able to master riding a bike until at least 7 if not older. The Strider allowed him to separate the skills of balancing and pedaling so that he could concentrate on only one at a time. In addition, they said that most kids, and especially those with Sensory Integration Dysfunction, crave fast movement. It is something that allows them to develop a sense of where they are in space which strengthens the mind so that it can develop so many other gross motor skills, such as balance. The Strider definitely allows children to experience fast movement and practice their balancing skills. In addition, to all of this it is a great confidence booster for children. When people see them at the park and marvel at their ability to master riding a bike at such a young age, they just beam. There is nothing more important than a child’s self-esteem, if they have that they can do anything!
