Strider Cup was pioneered in Japan, made it's way to the United States and is now active all over the globe! Last year's winner of the 5 year old class at the Strider World Championship in Sarasota, Florida has recently mastered a new STRIDER skill which will serve him well when he starts racing BMX. Watch the short clip below and try not to be impressed with his skills.

Ryunosuke will be too old to race in this year's Championship race (October 12th-14th in Sarasota), but hopefully this video will inspire some other STRIDER racers.

STRIDER Partners with AMA Pro Racing!

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 10, 2012) - AMA Pro Racing is excited to announce a partnership with Strider Sports International for the 2012 AMA Pro Hillclimb season.

AMA Pro Hillclimb produces extreme competition in a truly traditional form of motorcycle racing dating back to the early 1900's, pitting man and machine against mountainous terrain in a race against the clock. The fan-friendly and family-oriented atmosphere of the events will be bolstered in 2012 with the addition of the STRIDER® Adventure Zone at each of the AMA Pro Hillclimb events on this year’s calendar.

“We’re excited to have the Strider Adventure Zones participate at the AMA Pro Hillclimb events,” said Ryan McFarland, chief executive officer of Strider Sports International. “These are fun, off-road motorcycle enthusiast events, and now there will be two-wheeled adventure for even the youngest family members in attendance.”

The STRIDER® Adventure Zone is a safe and friendly environment that encourages kids 18 months to 5 years old to explore mobility on two wheels, and experience the challenge and thrill of riding on unique terrain and obstacles. STRIDER™ no-pedal balance bikes will be supplied by the company for toddlers, young children, and families to join in and participate in two-wheeled action of their own on race day.

“This is a great way to highlight our focus of family at our events,” said Scott Campbell, President of the Professional Hillclimbers Association, promoters of the 2012 AMA Pro Hillclimb Championship. “We want to use the 2012 season as a way to improve the experience at every race for every race fan and the STRIDER® Adventure Zone is a perfect start to exposing the kids to the love of two wheels. We are pleased to have Strider’s support and interest in our Series and being added to their already popular and growing list of events.”

The 2012 AMA Pro Hillclimb season will kick off on June 3 at the White Rose Motorcycle Club in Jefferson, Pa. For more information on AMA Pro Hillclimb, please visit http://www.amaproracing.com/hc/.

STRIDER SPORTS INTERNATIONAL DONATES

100 “NO-PEDAL” BIKES TO

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES

AS PART OF THE LOCAL “LEGACY” CREATED BY THE UPCOMING AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA RACE

BIKES DONATED ALLOW TODDLERS AND YOUNG CHILDREN TO LEARN TO RIDE A BICYCLE AT AN EARLY AGE

Los Angeles, Ca (May 8, 2012) Yesterday morning, Strider Sports International, Inc., which designs specifically-engineered, no-pedal bikes that encourage toddlers and young children to ride, learn and explore the world on two wheels at a very early age, donated 100 “No-Pedal Bikes” to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  The donation to local-based organizations (such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles) is part of Strider Sports’ sponsorship commitment to the Amgen Tour of California to serve communities that host the upcoming road cycling race.

Several patients from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles were on-hand to receive and try out the Strider “No-Pedal Bikes” with special instructions provided by two-time U.S. Olympian and track cycling coach, Adam Duvendeck, as well as former professional BMX rider, Greg Hill.

"We are so proud to be part of Amgen's California bike tour, and to have this opportunity to donate Strider bikes to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Strider no-pedal balance bikes make it possible for all children to realize their bike riding potential,” says Ryan McFarland, Founder and Chief Enthusiast of Strider Sports Intl., Inc.  “There is nothing more satisfying to us than to see smiles of confidence beam from Strider riders when they realize they are riding on two wheels. We are committed to developing future riders and look forward to this year’s Amgen Tour of California,” commented McFarland.

"We are thrilled that Strider Sports International has generously donated “No-Pedal Bikes” to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The unique design of the Strider bike allows our diverse patient population to ride at an early age," said Rodney B. Hanners, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.  "The young toddlers that received the bikes today were very appreciative and excited to begin exploring the world around them. We are proud to be a part of Amgen Tour of California and are extremely thankful to Strider Sports International, and to AEG, our corporate partner for introducing us to them."

“Through the generous support of many of our Amgen Tour of California sponsors, we have the opportunity to not only introduce the great sport of cycling to residents of California as well as the millions who watch our race on television, but to also give back to communities throughout the state like we are doing today,” said Kristin Bachochin, Executive Director, Amgen Tour of California and Senior Vice President, AEG Sports. “The donation made today by Strider Sports will both help children learn the joy of cycling at an early age and, more importantly, be part of the great care and rehabilitation that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides to their patients on a daily basis.”

An additional component of Strider Sports International’s sponsorship of the upcoming Amgen Tour of California cycling race is the creation of Strider Adventure Zones that will be featured as part of the popular Lifestyle Festivals at the finish lines at each stage of the eight-day race which kicks off Sunday May 13th in Santa Rosa, CA. Strider Adventure Zones provide young children the opportunity to play, learn, and socialize with peers while riding on two wheels. In addition, kids will have an opportunity to race on a specially-designed course at the race’s Final Stage at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on May 20th. The races and other activities planned for the Strider Adventure Zones are the perfect way to fuel a child’s budding passion for cycling and to help teach sportsmanship and camaraderie with fellow riders.

The Amgen Tour of California is an eight-day event, featuring elite professional teams and athletes from around the world. The 16 world-class teams chosen to participate in the 2012 race will include Olympic hopefuls and Tour de France contenders representing more than 20 countries, giving fans around the world a preview of what is to come this July in both France and London.

May Is National Bike Month!

Keep the 30 Days of Biking from April rolling! The League of  American Bicyclists is once again commemorating  National Bike Month in May.

Get out and on your bicycles in May as often as you can. Talk to your friends and share ways to boost your days in the saddle! The League of American Bicyclists is suggesting 3 specific activities you could be a part of no matter what country you live in:

1. May 9th is Bike To School Day - May 9th. If you have a school age child ride with them to school, bring your STRIDER Rider along. The best part is you  get to ride back to pick them up!

2. Bike To Work Week - May 14th-18th. Commit to riding to work for one week. Chances are you'll find out it's easier than you think and you'll discover new things about your town or city as you roll through a little slower than usual. Have to drop the kids off at daycare? Park your car and ride to work from there or swap the driving duties for the week with a spouse or loved one.

3. Bike To Work Day - May 18th. This is the day to make sure you ride to work! Tell all your co-workers, hassle your boss to install a bike rack and make sure your bike is in tip-top shape.

If Being on a bicycle isn't a big part of your life already, hopefully this month can help to get you out there a little bit more. We hear so many stories about how STRIDER parents are inspired by their toddlers to get back on bikes after years of barely riding. It is a fun, easy way to interact with your STRIDER Riders and it has the added benefit of being pretty healthy to boot!

If you need more ideas head over to the League of American Bicyclists' website and find out more.

The sun finally came out in sunny California!

It was another great day of STRIDER Adventure Zone fun in sunny Santa Cruz. We always love to hear from the kids and parents who are already riding their STRIDER Bikes....today we had a lot of them. The local shop (Epicenter Cycling) is selling them and they have a pump track right in the shops backyard!

Santa Cruz is steeped in bike culture: Bike Lanes everywhere, families riding cruisers with their skim boards under their arms and piles of bikes locked up at all the local restaurants. What a great city to be a STRIDER Rider! Thanks for coming out to ride Santa Cruz.

See you on Tuesday Livermore!

The STRIDER Adventure Zone Tour of California has begun in Santa Rosa! We will be sharing reports and photos from the road all week as we travel with the Amgen Tour of California.

It is always fun to be around so many people who are all focused on biking! We've seen Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Beach Cruisers and Commuters...the best part is that they all seem to get that balance is so important in the learning process.

It has been an unusually warm winter in StriderVille! When the STRIDER Ski Attachments arrived we barely even had any slush to test them out, but that was enough for the first ever STRIDER Snow Cup!

Luckily they still had snow when the first shipment arrived in Japan! This great video from the first Strider Snow Cup in Japan makes us really excited for the snow to start flying next Winter. Stride On!
