Tiny Strider Riders To Compete On Specially-Designed Tracks Across America

Rapid City, SD (March 3, 2014) — Strider Sports International, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, has created a new national racing series known as  the STRIDER Championship Series. This groundbreaking program will give small children a chance to put their Strider Balance Bike skills to the test at four stops across the country this summer, plus the final worldwide event this fall.

The unique Strider Championship Series will cater directly to children between two and five years old who want to experience the thrill of racing. Children of all sizes and skill levels are welcome to participate. STRIDER No-Pedal Balance Bikes are developed for both learning the ropes of riding and honing advanced skills in racing.

Find STRIDER Championship Series races in the following cities this summer:

A typical Strider race scene has young parents and grandparents holding their breath as the bright yellow cowbells are rung and the starting gate drops. Toddlers, some still in diapers, lean forward, grasp their mini grips, kick their short legs, and embark upon their 400-foot plus journey over obstacles from dirt mounds to wooden ramps. All young racers are treated to an Olympic-style podium award ceremony immediately following their race, where trophies taller than some of the riders are given to top finishers. All participants receive medals and pose for the crowd of proud parents and spectators.

Participating in any of these events will automatically qualify the rider for the Strider World Championship. The series-ending race will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota — world headquarters for Strider Sports International, Inc. The big event goes down this year on September 19, 20 and 21.  Please visit our website at STRIDER World Championship for more information.

INTRODUCING THE AXEL PROJECT BIKE CLASSIC

Axel Project Bicycle ClassicDates

THE NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN MEMORY OF AXEL CHARRETTE, PLANS CHARITY RIDE OVER RED MOUNTAIN PASS

Ridgway, Colorado (February 15th, 2014) The Axel Project has announced plans to hold its inaugural bicycle classic—a breathtaking ride over Colorado’s historic Red Mountain Pass, on August 30th 2014. The Axel Project Bicycle Classic will be the organization’s premier fundraiser to help fund and expand their mission to introduce bicycles and a healthy lifestyle to kids and families.

The Axel Project Bicycle Classic is comprised of a 35- or 56-mile road ride topping out at 11,018K feet on the iconic Red Mountain Pass, rivaling any pass in the world for scenery. In addition to the rides over Red Mountain Pass, a family ride through the town of Ridgway will also be available. After the rides are complete, participants and visitors alike will gather in Ridgway’s Town Park for the Axel Project Bicycle Classic Festival, complete with a kid’s adventure zone, live music, food and refreshments.

Randy Charrette, Axel’s father and Project co-founder, expressed his excitement for the Bike Classic, “All the plans are in place and we already have quite a few riders signed up, including a few surprise guests! The level of interest and commitment from our sponsors has been heartwarming. And we’re overjoyed by how many children and families we’ve already been able to help.”

Charrette went on to describe other projects that are in the works, “We have several exciting things happening this year in addition to our attendance at the Tour of Utah and USA Pro Challenge. We’ve written a children’s book and plan to launch a KickStarter campaign to fund its printing—we should have copies before the Tour of Utah. Finally we have just been accepted as a collaborative Partner for the 2014 Ride the Rockies. With over 2500 riders we’re excited to spread the word about the Axel Project.”

The Axel Project was created in honor of 2-year old, Axel Charrette, who was killed in Sayulita Mexico in February 2013. The organization’s mission is to introduce and nurture a lifelong passion for cycling to children and their families.

Axel’s love for all things bikes, clearly instilled by his family’s passion for cycling, and his particular affinity for chasing his brother around on his Strider bike, led to the creation of the Axel Project, and its natural corporate partnership with Strider Sports International, Inc.

For more information on the Axel Project Bicycle Classic, please visit www.axelprojectride.com. Donations to the Axel Project can be made at www.axelproject.com. All donations will be used to fulfill the organization’s mission. In addition, for every Strider bike sold on the Axel Project website, one will be donated to a child in need.

Toddlers Learn To Love Cycling Alongside the Pros at Each of The Race’s Finish Festivals August 19-25

Rapid City, SD (August 6, 2013) — Strider Sports International, the world’s premier manufacturer and marketer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, in conjunction with the Axel Project, is bringing Strider Racing® to downtown Denver on August 25 and Adventure Zones to each stage of the USA Pro Challenge, August 19-25.

The STRIDER™ Adventure Zone gives toddlers one to five years old a chance to test ride a STRIDER, play with other kids, and develop balance and coordination in a STRIDER-designed area. This safe and friendly environment encourages kids to explore mobility on two wheels and experience the challenge and thrill of riding a STRIDER on unique terrain and obstacles.

People can find an Adventure Zone at each stage along the USA Pro Challenge route, as well as during the opening weekend festival in Aspen. Dates and locations include: Aspen, August 18 (opening weekend); Aspen, August 19; Breckenridge, August 20; Steamboat Springs, August 21; Beaver Creek, August 22; Vail, August 23; Fort Collins, August 24; and downtown Denver for the finish on August 25.

On Sunday, August 25, the Adventure Zone will transform into the STRIDER race course. Tiny two-year-olds will kick off the racing at 11 a.m., followed by the thrilling three-year-olds at noon. The four and five-year olds will get their chance on the track at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. The top three finishers in each heat will receive a medal. All participants will receive a ribbon and customized number plate. Families may register their STRIDER riders on site. No registration fee required.

The USA Pro Challenge currently holds the record as the largest spectator event in Colorado history and one of the largest sporting events to ever take place in the United States. For seven consecutive days, 128 of the world’s top athletes will race 600 miles through the majestic Rockies — reaching higher altitudes than they’ve ever had to endure — more than two miles in elevation.

Strider Sports International CEO Ryan McFarland says, “The USA Pro Challenge is a natural fit to help promote Strider Racing and the mission of the Axel Project. Showcasing Strider Racing next to the fastest road cyclists in the world is truly an honor for us. We know the passion and determination on display from every pro rider in the race will rub off on our young racers, showing them how much you can do on two wheels!”

Introducing The Axel Project

A Non Profit Organization, In Memory Of Axel Charrette, Dedicated To Providing STRIDER Bikes To Children In Need

Axel Project Numberplate

Ridgway, Colorado (June 7th, 2013) - The Charrette family has announced the launch of the Axel Project.

Randy Charrette, Axel’s father and Project co-founder, expressed his passion for the endeavor, “In the months after our loss we wanted to come up with a way to honor our son’s memory. We decided to set up the Axel Project. Axel loved his Strider and we loved watching him gain confidence and enjoy life as he rode around. By getting more children and families on bicycles we are helping build healthier communities and a better world.”

The Axel Project’s immediate goal is to provide balance bikes to children in need. Organizations can apply to receive Strider bikes, for a nominal fee which includes shipping, as well as instructions on teaching children the basics of riding, by filling out a simple online application on the Axel Project website: http://axelproject.com/apply.

Jen Charrette, Axel’s mother and Project co-founder, explains, “We believe biking not only builds confidence in young children but also improves health, is an outlet to express pure joy, is a foundation to a lifelong appreciation of nature, and helps strengthen family bonds because it’s an activity the entire family can do together. The Axel Project was an obvious way for us to forever memorialize Axel and everything we came to love about riding together as a family.”

Ryan McFarland, founder of Strider Bikes, had only two words when he was asked if his company would be the founding sponsor of the Axel Project. “We’re In,” was his immediate, and indelible response.

Donations to the Axel Project can be made at www.axelproject.com. All donations will be used to fulfill the organization’s mission. In addition, for every Strider bike sold on the Axel Project website, one will be donated to a child in need.
