Colorado “Toddler Tour de France” Welcoming Hundreds of Cute 2- to 6-Year-Olds

Tiny riders from around the world to compete in Boulder

Rapid City, S.D. (June 26, 2018) — Hundreds of enthusiastic toddlers from around the globe – some still in diapers, will ride in family-friendly bike races and play experiences at the Strider Cup World Championship, July 20-21, at Central Park & Civic Area in Boulder, Colorado. For parents and spectators alike, the event will provide one-of-a-kind opportunities to take captivating photos and videos.

"Our two sons Aidan (7) and Axel (4) transitioned to pedal bikes with no training wheels due to starting on Strider Bikes,” said Adele Sakich of Arvada, Colorado. “It's amazing to see the progression from tiptoeing along on the bike, to zooming down a hill with their feet up. Riding Strider Bikes has been a great confidence booster. Our favorite part of the Strider experience is the Strider Cup races. We love the energy at all the events!”

Aidan and Axel, Strider Cup phenoms

The Strider Cup series, held across the United States and around the globe, is powered by the groundbreaking design of Strider Bikes, which empowers toddlers and young children to safely enjoy the mobility and independence of two-wheel biking at an earlier age than any prior generation.

“It is a sight to see toddlers from all over the world leaning into turns with huge grins on their faces, exhibiting excellent balance and control,” said Strider Founder and Chief Enthusiast Ryan McFarland. “Parents who are on the hunt for ways to get their kids to put down their tablets and screens, and enjoy the outdoors, need look no further.”

Each year Strider holds one worldwide racing spectacular, the Strider Cup World Championship. This event draws families from across the world, including Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, Thailand, China, Ecuador, and more. The youngest rider, 21-month-old Eddie Meyer is making the trip with his family from Overland Park, Kansas, for his racing debut.

A typical race scene involves toddlers, some only 18 months of age, kicking their legs to propel the bikes along a 650-foot plus journey over ramps, obstacles and through tunnels. Racers delight in the podium ceremony afterward, where the fastest tykes earn trophies and all racers take home medals. The previous two years saw riders from Japan sweeping all of the world titles.

2017 SCWC - Japan on Podium

Little racers from Japan have proved dominant in prior year Strider Cup World Championship events.

The Strider Cup World Championship runs from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. July 21 and will include race classes for registered riders 6 years old and younger, as well as a free learn-to-pedal area with demo bikes and helmets for all children.

During packet pickup July 20, Strider will present Imagine Colorado with 10 Strider 14x Sport Bikes, designed for children 3 – 7 years old.

For racers, registration is $27 per class and includes a jersey, number plate, and other goodies valued at more than $50. More information, registration and the full schedule are available at

Strider creates and inspires the next generation of riders by giving children as young as six months old the best first-bike experience. Strider Bikes revolutionized the bike’s design to develop a child’s balance first and pairs each balance bike with a proven learn-to-ride process. Children across the globe are starting on a Strider Bike and becoming two-wheeling virtuosos – before they’re out of diapers.

Founded in 2007, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Strider has sold more than 1.9 million bikes and is distributed in more than 75 countries. Visit, Facebook or Instagram.

Thank You Soooo much for coming out to the 2017 Strider Cup World Championship!

Wow – what an amazing record/breaking day of international toddler Strider bike racing! Nearly 400 toddlers from 14 countries and 30 riders with special needs competed for the worlds fastest Strider bike rider in Saturday's races held at Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City. Little legs lined up behind the 24 foot start gate and strode over, through and around various obstacles along the 777 foot custom built race course. We all witnessed little Finn transfer up four times in the 3-year old category and we were blown away by the speed of the Japanese riders who in the end swept all the titles. Happy, smiling faces received medals and trophies as champions were crowned in 2 and under, 3, 4, 5 year old, and special needs divisions. What a wonderful day of making new friends, riding, Dannon Yogurt mustaches, and racing!
A huge thank you to all the racers, their families, and to our title sponsor Dannon and their staff from West Jordan Utah for the support, yogurt and for donating bikes to the Salt Lake Head Start. A big thanks also to Competitive Cyclist for the Free Strider Adventure Zone and to LDS Hospital, The Color Run, Chick-Fil-A and Real Shades. Thanks also to the Gallivan Center as well as the City of Salt Lake City for their support! We had a fantastic time this weekend and loved hearing the stories you shared about your child’s experience with their Strider bike. Thank you for the hospitality and hope to see you in 2018!

Thank You Soooo much for coming out to the 2016 Strider Cup World Championship!

What a great finish to the US 2016 Strider Cup racing season! With stops in Lincoln, Nebraska, Salt Lake City, Utah, Spokane, Washington, and finally our Strider Cup World Championship in San Francisco, California it was definitely a year to remember!

The Strider Cup World Championship on San Francisco's Pier 35 (right next to Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 39) was an amazing event! The venue had the advantage of being covered, but with the large garage doors open felt like you were on the water with beautiful San Francisco vistas. With a total of 302 Strider racers it was the largest race we've ever held. Nine different countries participated with the largest groups from Japan (25) and Equador (15).

Our hopes and goals for this race was simple, to give riders (of all abilities) an enjoyable weekend! Hopefully, your Strider rider will remember the camaraderie, fun race competition, and continue to gain confidence on their Strider Bikes!

We're already in the planning stages for 2017! Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest to get the latest news.

Over 270 STRIDER Riders came out for the 2015 STRIDER World Championship at Main Street Square in Rapid City, SD! The 5th annual race had participants from Canada, China, Ecuador, Japan, Slovakia, and all over the US. It's always fun to see international friendships rekindled as previous champions return to reclaim their title in the next age bracket. We also had a number of racers who had participated in one of the four 2015 STRIDER Championship Series races held in Florida, California, Pennsylvania, and Utah.

The weekend was full of family focused events and everyone had a great time despite high temperatures.

Friday night was a chance to get to know the lay out of the track and for last chance qualifiers. We capped Friday night off with the STRIDER Corporate Challenge! Eight local businesses had a blast racing the track in a relay. The best part? We raised $1,000 for Youth & Family Services and $1,000 for Black Hills Works.

Saturday was RACE DAY! Some riders were fast, some were slow, but smiles were out in abundance! It was another hot one and many of the racers took advantage of the water hazard for a quick (sometimes mid-race) cool-down! Abbey Road (a Beatles cover band) played in Main Street Square at 7pm. Many of the STRIDER Riders stayed to get rid of even more energy through some pretty amazing dancing skills.

Check out the social media links at the bottom of the page to make sure you don't miss the2016  STRIDER Championship Series dates and locations when they're announced! You should also head over to our Flickr Page to see some amazing photos of all the little racers:

Try to wrap your head around these numbers: 1500 entrants. 750 STRIDER Riders chosen by lottery. Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition convention center with over 215,000 sq. feet.

"I’m super excited to visit Japan in December and be a part of the Japan STRIDER Cup Finals.  Our Japanese Strider distributor, Mr. Okajima and the Mamegyorai team, do an amazing job of running events and the Japanese Strider riders and parents are so enthusiastic that I’m sure this is going to be the biggest and best Strider event I've ever attended.  This will be my first time visiting Japan so after the race, I’m looking forward to seeing some of the sights."  ~Ryan McFarland (Founder and Chief Enthusiast of Strider)

Japan is where STRIDER Cup started, so it is fitting that Ryan will be there to see the largest STRIDER racing event EVER! December 9th is going to be a crazy day of STRIDER World Cup racing action in Yokohama! Word is that there will be an autograph session as well...luckily James (Int'l business manager) will be along to keep Ryan grounded.

If you happen to be in the Tokyo/Yokohama area come check it out on December 9th. It promises to be a memorable event for all involved! More information can be found HERE (Google Chrome will translate contents for you)
